fnatic have defeated iBUYPOWER 16-7 (9-6, 7-1) on de_cobblestone in their opening match at ESL One Cologne 2014.
iBUYPOWER attacked B to start their terrorist side of de_cobblestone, but three kills by Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer and two by Jesper "JW" Wecksell gave fnatic the openiing pistol round.
A good save by iBP netted them two kills, and star player Braxton "swag" Pierce put up three headshots, including a one-on-two, to get them on the board in the next round.
After a save swag won another key one-on-one with two kills, and after another weapon round that saw them trade picks early on, they found themselves up 5-2 as terrorists.
That's when fnatic shifted to a higher gear, as olofmeister and Robin "flusha" Rönnquist put up triple kill rounds each to force iBUYPOWER on a save round, tying the game up again.
Now at 5-5, iBUYPOWER took over B and gained one final lead at 6-5, before fnatic replied. Markus "pronax" Wallsten's triple forced iBP on a save, and a double kill from him made it 8-6.
pronax led his team to a win on de_cobblestone
On the final round olofmeister and Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson combined for five kills, and fnatic changed sides with a comfortable 9-6 lead as counter-terrorists on the map.
The team's captain pronax continued strong play in the second half, putting up another double on the pistol, followed by a triple against iBUYPOWER's triple Scout buy.
Down 6-12 after another save, Sam "DaZeD" Marine and swag got iBUYPOWER a round, but JW and flusha then broke their money with five kills.
The North Americans went for a weak Scout buy next, but it paid no dividends. A full buy later saw fnatic run over their A defense, and break iBUYPOWER's money again.
With fnatic up 15-7, iBP bought whatever they could, but swag's triple FAMAS round was outdone by JW who scored a quad-kill and a one-on-two to win 16-7. ESL One Cologne 2014Best of 1 fnatic
